Waves
A video installment of Dana Lawton Dances’ The Farallonites. This section is titled Waves and is inspired by the ocean, something that was ever-present in the lives of the Lighthouse Keepers and families living on the Farallon Islands during the Gold Rush era. Day and night the ocean surrounded them. The sounds of the ocean - whether gentle or tumultuous - never stopped. The danger of the waves was a consistent presence and the residents of the island needed to be ever vigilant of these dangers. At the same time, the sounds and motions of the ocean were also a calming constant for the Farallonites.
